Seashore Story (1967)

A retelling of the Japanese legend Urashima Taro in which a young man rescues a sea turtle which then takes him to visit an undersea kingdom. At the end, children ponder the meaning of this bittersweet story. Written and illustrated by Taro Yashima, who fled a militarizing 20th century Japan to live and work in the US.
